In the band’s sixth album, “Oh! Gravity,” Switchfoot has continued to follow a pattern that shot them to fame with their album “A Beautiful Letdown.” While most critics have said they would have liked more variation from the band, I say... if it’s not broken, don’t fix it.

The title track “Oh Gravity,” “Awakening,” “Faust, Midas, and Myself,” and “Circles” instantly grab your attention with the catchy melodies and lyrics. The Brit Rock sound in “Burn Out Bright” comes as a subtle suprise from the band’s usual style. “Amateur Lovers,” “4:12,” and “American Dream” showcase a very west coast style of music, while “Dirty Second Hands” and “Yesterdays” delve into a southern ballad sound.

Lyrically Jon Foreman continues to express the point that there is more to life than just material things. Songs like “Head over Heels” and “Let your Love be Strong” show that we are living for something bigger than we are. Switchfoot fans will love the album, but if you are looking for something different than their usual sound, you may be disappointed.
